An original and different bag pattern

Let's talk a little about order. I don't know about you but order gives me tremendous peace and calms my mind. I have to admit that I tidy and mess up just as quickly but when I see things tidy and in their place it seems that I work differently, I work calmly and things go better for me.

The same happens to me with the rest of my house, any corner can be a focus of bad mood. I give you the example of the closets and specifically the corner where I keep the handbags or travel bags, it always looks messy. That's why I wanted to find a solution to this little problem and design this fabric bag pattern, specifically a folding tote bag with a case at the base to keep the bags tidy in the closet when I don't use them.

1. Features of the foldable handbag pattern

  • This bag pattern folds into the case built into the base when I'm not using it.
  • It is very practical and has a large capacity.
  • It can be a weekend getaway bag, a gym bag, a short work travel bag, a beach bag,a bag for a million things.

In fabric bag sewing patterns you learn a lot more things than you think. The first thing you think is that you are going to sew a fabric bag pattern and that's it! I have to take you to task because it's not just a tote bag, it's that and so much more:

  • You are going to learn how to sew a bag with lining and zipper.
  • You will make a zippered pocketpocket. In this case outside but you can add another one in the lining.
  • You'll get a zipper and perfect corners.-no more tucked-in ends with weird bulges.
  • You will learn how to sew a zipper on round corners on the case pieces.

If you think that all this is complicated I tell you that if you have ever sewn a toiletry bag with zipper and lining, sewing this tote bag will be very simple because it is practically the same on a larger scale and adding the ribbons for the handles, otherwise you will see that the process is the same. 3. Other things you can add to the bag.

Needless to say, you will be able to adapt the handbag to your needs.

  • Add an inside zippered pocket (like the one I explained in the tutorial but in this case in the lining).
  • Add a zippered pocket on the case. Here is this video I made for the pattern of the Mariona case bag where you can see how to sew a zipper pocket. The pocket lining pieces are not included in the pattern download files but don't worry because in the video you will see that they are very simple and you will be able to make them yourself.

Note: The sewing process shown in the video is personal and indicative. This is how I sewed it. There are other processes to reach the same result and here I explain one of them. Include your own solutions or add new details that do not appear in the video. It is possible that you have sewn something similar in some occasion and that you have done some part of the process in a different way. All options are valid. I advise you to try several and then decide which one you find most comfortable to sew.
